Toyota Sienna Sliding Door Problems

Toyota Sienna owners continue to complain of significant problems with sliding doors.  A class action has been filed and claims can be asserted for repair costs, diminished value, or loss of use.

There is an abnormal and elevated rate of product problems and failure with the sliding doors on the Toyota Sienna  due to improper and/or defective design or manufacture. Toyota outfitted the Sienna with automated rear sliding doors common to minivans.  Many owners  have experienced both the rear sliding doors stuck shut and unable to open by any means, manual or automatic, as well as the doors opening spontaneously.  They have incurred costs for attempted repair of the doors, loss of use of the vehicle, and expenditures for rental vehicles while the vehicle was being serviced.  Sliding doors being stuck shut and opening spontaneously presents safety risks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) compiles data on product problems and defects, and tracks vehicle recall information.  NHTSA’s November 29, 2016 campaign, number 16V858000, is entitled “Power Sliding Door May Open While Driving”. The NHTSA campaign is directed at Toyota Sienna minivans and indicates, “If the power sliding door is unable to be opened when commanded, such as if the door is frozen shut, the door may subsequently open unexpectedly, possibly while the vehicle is moving.”

CABLE COMPANY OVERCHARGES

Angry woman sitting on stairs and using tablet

When you get promised one rate and charged another, it’s frustrating. When it happens to thousands of customers getting service from the same company all at once, it’s probably a sign of a systematic problem. And one report now says thousands of AT&T and DirecTV customers have been complaining about exactly that for years.
When CBS News went digging, it found more than 4,000 complaints against AT&T and DirecTV (the two merged in 2015) over the last two years relating to overcharges, deals, and promotional pricing gone awry.

If you have been deceived by your cable company, you may be entitled to compensation.

General Motors Air-Conditioning Problems

  1. Causes

Condensor, fluid, and the overall system have been identified as the source of problems.
As the class action explains, “The first defective component is the line leading from the compressor to the condenser. This line consists primarily of an aluminum tube connected to a rubber hose. On information and belief, this line can fail in two ways. First, the aluminum tube can become disconnected from the rubber hose, creating an opening in the line that can allow refrigerant to escape. Second, the aluminum tube itself has a material defect that can allow the tube to rupture, also allowing refrigerant to escape.   GM has recognized this defect. It no longer manufactures the compressor to condenser line that was original equipment in the Class Vehicles.

General Motors instructed mechanics that if they find a failure in this line, they are to replace it with a newly designed line and install a bracket in the system to minimize flexion and movement of the compressor to condenser line. (Exhibit A). Unfortunately, customers who suffer this failure after the vehicle is out of warranty are required to purchase and pay for the installation of these new parts, thus having to pay twice to obtain a functioning air conditioning system.

    2. Vehicles Covered

Vehicles with the Class Defect include the 2015 to 2017 model Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; the 2015 to 2017 model Chevrolet Suburban; the 2015-2017 model Chevrolet Tahoe; the 2014 to 2017 model GMC Sierra 1500; the 2015/2016 model GMC Sierra Heavy Duty; the 2014 to 2017 model Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the 2015/2016 model Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty

BMW ODOR PROBLEMS

cropped-man-with-broken-car-air-conditioning.jpg

BMW owners have complained of odor under various conditions.

I have a 2011 BMW 328i and I get this sort of burnt chemical smell through the vents when the heat is on. It doesn’t happen until I have been driving for 10-15 minutes. After that you get the smell on some low level all the time, but it seems to be briefly exacerbated by making a hard turn (i.e. a U-turn). You get a stronger whiff coming out of the turn and then it returns to baseline. I also smell it stronger when setting off in low gear (1st or 2nd) like from a stop sign.   https://community.cartalk.com/t/smell-from-vents-bmw-328i/89768

BMW has recently issued a recall.  Recall Campaign 17V-676 Blower Motor Wiring According to BMW, the problem involves the blower motor which monitors heat and air conditioning.
