DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE
RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS
40,000.

SUMMARY: QUOTED BY DEALERSHIP THAT REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR ~$2200. RESEARCH HAS SHOWN MY THERE ARE
HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES ON MANY LAND ROVER LR2/3 MODELS. I WOULD LIKE TO ADVOCATE FOR A
RECALL, AS EVERY TIME LAND ROVER FIXES THIS KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART, THEY MAKE A BIG PROFIT. OTHERWISE, A CLASS ACTION
LAWSUIT WILL BE INITIATED AGAINST LAND ROVER.

SUMMARY:
MY 2009 LAND ROVER LR2, HAS SOUNDED VERY LOUD WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE JUST BEEN A TIRE
ISSUE THAT THEY WERE OLD AND NEEDED ROTATED OR REPLACED. WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM REPAIR
THE DEALERSHIP DID A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. THEY SAID NOTHING WAS LEAKING OR IMMEDIATELY WRONG BUT I SHOULD GET IT
BACK IN FOR A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION. I DID AND FOUND MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDS REPLACED. FROM RESEARCHING I HAVE
FOUND THIS HIS BEEN A WIDESPREAD AND KNOWN ISSUE DATING BACK TO THE 2008 MODEL.

Infiniti Vehicle Shut off

 

Infiniti owners have complained of stalling and vehicle shut-off.  A recent complaint stated,

the vehicle would suddenly slow and the engine would stall out. She would have to restart the vehicle to be able to continue driving.   After that date, plaintiff experienced the same problem on many occasions. When that happened, an error message would appear on the dash screen. On those occasions, plaintiff sent a text message to her service representative at Infiniti San Francisco. The service representative replied with a text message saying to just keep driving the vehicle saying it was nothing to worry about.

Attempted Repair 

The tech who inspected the car wrote stated the following: “Found past codes for pedal position sensor malfunction and fuel rail system pressure abnormal, performed DTC confirmation, was able to clear codes, possible accel pedal related, checked data monitor, found accel pedal sensor 0% fully released and 100% fully depressed ….contacted tech line for further assistance. Per tech line tested [various components]. As per tech line request continue to operate vehicle in similar conditions and attempt to duplicate concern. Able to duplicate concern after extended road test. Found terminal 1 and 5 of connector E95 out of spec. Replaced… confirmed operation.

Some have suggested the vehicle should be recalled for the problem.

Kia Sedona Power Sliding Door Defect

Kia Sedona owners have complained about problems with the sliding doors.  Owners may be entitled to compensation or other relief.

More than 106,400 model year 2015-2018 Kia Sedona minivans have power sliding doors that could automatically close on objects located between the sliding doors and the minivans.  The power sliding door module controls the sensor that is located in the interior door well and detects movement while the sliding door closes.

Kia and the supplier determined the original programming of the module is set to a threshold level that can fail to detect objects in the path of the door sliding closed. This will prevent the automatic stop and reversal feature from doing its job.

In September 2017, Kia was looking at field data and found 17 customer complaints about power sliding doors that didn’t detect obstructions in 2015-2017 Sedona.  Engineers inspected the minivans and found the doors worked as intended, so Kia decided to monitor the field for additional problems.

Chevrolet Malibu Engine

Chevrolet Malibu owners have experienced significant engine problems.   2016 and 2017 Chevy Malibu owners have experienced engine problem.  One issues is that the the  Malibu will go into Reduced Engine Power mode.  Here is one typical complaint,

“The first time the car had less than 1k miles on it!! It feels like a transmission problem. I am familiar with the system where the car will turn itself off while at a stoplight and then back on again- I’m fine with that system. What is not okay is when driving in DC rush hour traffic, accelerating, braking, or slowing down and the car will violently jerk. BMW ODOR PROBLEMS

BMW owners have complained of odor under various conditions.

I have a 2011 BMW 328i and I get this sort of burnt chemical smell through the vents when the heat is on. It doesn’t happen until I have been driving for 10-15 minutes. After that you get the smell on some low level all the time, but it seems to be briefly exacerbated by making a hard turn (i.e. a U-turn). You get a stronger whiff coming out of the turn and then it returns to baseline. BMW has recently issued a recall.  Recall Campaign 17V-676 Blower Motor Wiring According to BMW, the problem involves the blower motor which monitors heat and air conditioning.

Chevy Equinox Oil Consumption and Engine Problems

CHRYSLER PACIFIC STALLING AND RECALL

Owners of  the 2016-18 Chrysler Pacific have experience engine and stalling problems on their vehicle.  Owners may be entitled to compensation or new vehicles because of these problems.  One source explains,

“Chrysler Pacifica stalling problems have caused a recall that will allegedly fix problems that typically occur while the minivans are making turns, driving slow steady speeds, while idling or when starting.

The recall includes nearly 154,000 model year 2017 Chrysler Pacifica non-hybrid minivans in the U.S., nearly 7,500 in Canada, more than 970 in Mexico and about 245 outside North America.

Pacifica drivers who complained about stalled engines were allegedly able to restart their minivans immediately afterward.

Fiat Chrysler (FCA US) says “under a rare set of conditions” the engine control module (ECM) can misread the operating status of the engine, causing the engine to stall.

Chrysler knows of one crash allegedly connected to the stalling problem, but is unaware of any injuries.

FCA says the fix involves dealers installing updated engine control software, but the automaker didn’t say when this will occur.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica recall follows a petition to investigate stalling problems in the minivans filed by the Center for Auto Safety (CAS) and Pacifica owner Adam J. Cohen. The November 2017 petition asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to open an official investigation into complaints made about the minivans.

In addition to wanting NHTSA to investigate the problem, CAS said FCA should recall the non-hybrid minivans and provide loaner vehicles until the Pacificas are correctly repaired.”  www.carcomplaints.com
