SUMMARY: WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK AFTER THIS THIRD REPAIR, THE TRANSMISSION WAS STARTING TO SLIP AGAIN. EVERY TIME IT HAS BEEN WORSE THAN THE TIME BEFORE. THE LAST TIME THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. IT STUTTERED, HESITATED TO THE POINT OF STALLING, JERKED AND LURCHED FORWARD WHEN THE 2ND GEAR FINALLY ENGAGED. THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND IT WAS A STRUGGLE TO CLIMB THE SMALLEST HILL. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND FRANKLY SCARES ME TO DEATH. I HAVE TO WAIT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON CITY STREETS UNTIL THE TRAFFIC IS VERY CLEAR. THE CARS WAITING BEHIND ME ARE BLOWING HORNS, CURSING ME AND GIVING CRUDE GESTURES. MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY IS TRULY FRIGHTENING. STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FINDS ME STUTTERING ALONG. FORD HAS KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE 2011 AND HAS YET TO FIND A SOLUTION. THEY CALL IT A SERVICE ACTION WHEN ACTUALLY IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. Date Complaint Filed: 09/28/2016

WITHIN THE FIRST 10,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP THE TRANSMISSION IN OUR 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS BEEN REBUILT AND THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REBUILT/FIXED AS WELL AS MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES APPLIED, AND WE HAVE COMPLAINED EVERY TIME WE TAKE THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL BROKEN. IT SHUDDERS, JERKS, RUMBLES, HARD SHIFTS AND EVEN COMES CLOSE TO STALLING WITH NO ACCELERATION/MOVEMENT AT TIMES. I FEAR DRIVING IT THAT I CANNOT TAKE OFF FROM A STOP SAFELY WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILING AND I WILL END UP BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AS A RESULT. THIS TRANSMISSION IS DANGEROUS AND WILL RESULT IN ACCIDENTS. WORST TRANSMISSION I HAVE EVER OWNED AND FORD WILL NOT FIX NOR BUY US OUT OF THE CAR…ITS A LEMON!

SUMMARY:
THIS IS EXACTLY THE ISSUE I’VE BEEN HAVING. 8/5/2016 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE 3RD TIME CONCERNING THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NO LONGER A COVERED ISSUE. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I ASKED FOR A DIFFERENT ONE BECAUSE THE ONE I TEST DROVE LITERALLY FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING SO BAD I WASN’T GOING TO GET IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I DROVE ANOTHER ONE AND IT WAS BETTER, HOWEVER STILL SHUTTERING. I WAS ASSURED BY THE SALES PERSON AT BEECHMONTFORD THIS WAS NORMAL
FORD WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY WERE EXTENDING THE WARRENTY.THE SHUTTERING INCREASINGLY BECAME WORSE AND HAD BEGAN A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND WAS STALLING SO BAD AT TAKE OFF I WAS WORRIED ABOUT HAVING AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT.THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT WASN’T GOING ANYWHERE,THEN WOULD JERK INTO GEAR.IN DECEMBER OF 2015 I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO BEECHMONTFORD,THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND A NEW CLUTCH.TO WHICH MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 42DAYS.BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS SO WIDE SPREAD THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER AND MY CAR WAS DEEMED TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.THIS WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL.

Ford Focus Class Action Complaint
A class action lawsuit has been filed alleging purge valve problems in 2012-2015 Ford Focus vehicles. This defect causes the vehicle to stall and experience other potentially dangerous engine problems.
What is a purge valve defect?
The Ford Focus lawsuit describes alleged problems caused by the purge valve that is used for the emissions system. The plaintiff says the EVAP system (evaporative emission control system) is used to store fuel vapors in the charcoal canister when the engine is running. Those vapors are supposed to be sent to the engine, if the system works as intended. However, the plaintiff claims the purge valve can stick open and allow liquid gas to enter the EVAP system. The alleged purge valve problem will cause the gas gauge to give a driver false fuel level estimates and cause the Focus to stall while driving.
Who is eligible?
This is a class action lawsuit brought by on behalf of [Plaintiff] and a class of current and former owners and lessees of model years (“MY”) 2012- 2015 Ford Focus vehicles (collectively, the “Class Vehicles”) that were sold with defective Evaporative Emission Control (“EVAP”) systems.
What does the lawsuit say?
“This action arises from Defendant’s failure, despite its longstanding knowledge, to disclose to Plaintiff and other similarly situated customers that the Class Vehicles had defective EVAP systems. As explained above, Class Vehicles were sold with a defective purge valve, which regulates the intake of fuel vapors into the engine to reduce vehicle emissions. This defect, which manifests itself within the limited warranty period or shortly after the limited warranty period expires, can cause the engine to shut off while the car is in motion. This crucial defect has put the Plaintiff, as well as countless members of the Class, at risk of great bodily harm. Ford knew, or should have known, of this critical defect at the time of sale or shortly thereafter when numerous members of the putative class began. Plaintiff reserves the right to amend or add to the vehicle models included in the definition of Class Vehicles after conducting discovery. Yet, notwithstanding this knowledge, Ford has routinely failed to repair the Class Vehicles without charge when the defect manifests.”
What is the status of the class action?
The class action is “hanging by a thread” as Ford has successfully had several of the claims dismissed, leaving only one. It is unclear to what degree Focus owners will be compensated.
